Obituary for Josie Parker
JOSIE LEE PARKER WAS born April 17, 1930 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Grant Hills and Louvenia Cole Hills. Josie was a long-standing member of Pentecostal Memorial Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor D.L. Whitaker. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Stars for more than 25 years. A woman of strong faith, she would always say, “Tell the truth and stay in the church.”
A loving mother and grandmother, Josie had a strong sense of family. She found comfort in caring for other members of the family. One of the things she enjoyed doing most for enjoyment
was playing Bingo.
Josie is predeceased by: 1 son, Sheppard Grant Carmicheal and 1 great-granddaughter, Iyanna; 4 brothers: Robert, David, Sam and Roosevelt; 4 sisters: Grantha, Victoria, Buelah and Lillie. She was called home to rest on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, leaving to cherish her memory: 2 grandsons, Sheppard (Tammy) Carmicheal and David Horey; 2 granddaughters, Victoria (Teddy) Cromwell and Christina Horey; great-grandchildren:
Brandon, Anthony, Jacob, Joycelyn, Alex, Amishza, Adam, Jeffrey and Gabby, a great-great niece, Kalana Dash, whom she raised, and a host of extended family, church family and friends.
