Obituary for Glen Tyrone Holmes

GLENN T. HOLMES was born September 23, 1959 in Wayland Village, NY to Ulysses Holmes
Sr. and Mary Ellis Holmes. He graduated from Edison Tech High School with a trade in Blue
Printing.

Glenn became a member of Divine Unity Church, where he served as an Evangelist. He later
became a member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Glenn was united in holy matrimony to the true love of his life, his queen, Regina Holmes. She
was his queen, and Glenn loved letting everyone know "My Wife!" He loved to call his wife "Gina!
Gina!" for any and everything. Glenn loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his siblings.
His children brought him a special joy, but his grandchildren and great-grandchildren kept him
youthful.

One of his favorite past times was being "King of the Hill" where he dominated in dominoes and
spades. A music lover, Glenn also enjoyed listening to "Old School Blues." Cooking on the grill,
fixing things and always being the life of the party were second nature to Glenn. He also knew
how to shut things down when needed. Better than "Martin," he would say with authority, "This is
MY house, and I run it, now get to steppin'; Good-bye."

Glenn was a man of diverse talents. Early in life, he had a passion for fishing. His ability earned
him the title, "The Bass Master." He and his brother, Ulysses Jr. (Fat), often enjoyed doing
masonry work with their grandfather. As an entrepreneur, he established and managed his lawn
care business, "Mr. T Lawn Service." Glenn took pleasure in teaching life skills to the "younguns,'
as he called them. They learned things from him like mowing grass, planting and harvesting
gardens. His work experience also included: master chef for 10 years at the Holiday Inn,
downtown Rochester, Rochester Products, and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers,
Local 86 as an electrician for 20 years, where he became a Journeyman and retired. To keep
himself busy, he later worked part time for Clean Craft until becoming ill.

Glenn, age 61, departed this life November 2, 2020 at Strong Memorial Hospital with his loving
wife by his side. He is predeceased by: his loving mother, Mary Ellis Holmes; 1 brother, Jimmy
Roundtree; 2 sisters, Vickie Holmes and Sandra Bagley; grandfathers, Ellis Hampton and Willie
Monroe; and his beloved grandmother, Jessie Mae Lee. He leaves to cherish his memory: his
loving wife, Regina Holmes; 6 children: Ashieka Anderson, Janelle Mason, Roderick (Fanta)
Crawford, Glenda (Kenny) Gano, Phyllis (Omar) Holmes-Richardson and Leslie Holmes; 25
grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; father, Ulysses Holmes Sr.; 15 siblings: Ulysses Holmes
Jr., Yvonne, Valliery, Dennis, and Shawn Holmes, all of Rochester, NY, Robert Holmes of West
Palm Beach, FL, Tyrone (Debra), Freemona, and Robert Roundtree, Tony (Darmell) and Beverly
