A funeral is one of the costliest expenditures of families will ever have. Many funerals frequently run over $10,000 excluding the cost of a burial plot and marker. The final funeral costs can be rather overwhelming for the average family.

A traditional funeral service is the most affordable funeral package at Metropolitan Funeral Chapels, Inc., starting at $4,060. This includes transfer of remains to the funeral home, embalming, dressing, cosmeticizing, the basic service of the funeral director and staff, use of facilities for same day viewing and funeral ceremony, utility vehicle, and transportation of our hearse to the local cemetery. It does not include special restoration of autopsy cases, limousine(s), casket, outer burial container, memorial package, or cash advance items. 

Funeral Assistance Program

Looking for help with funeral costs? We also take part in the Monroe County Funeral Assistance Program which provides benefits for residents, upon approval, who are indigent or who have no assets to pay for their funerals. Currently, the maximum benefits are:

• $2,500 for burial services;
• $1,800 for viewing and cremation;
• $1,400 for direct cremation; and
• $800 for infants & children up to 5 years of age.

On top of this benefit, Metropolitan Funeral Chapels, Inc. has had the opportunity to serve and offer over 5 million dollars worth of funeral and cremation service discounts to both non-qualifying and qualifying families of the Monroe County Funeral Assistance program since we opened in 1986.  

Since we have an established relationship with the Monroe County Funeral Assistance Program, we will take care of the application and paperwork effectively and efficiently on the family’s behalf.
